Couse Description
"The explosive proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) is digitalizing the world, increasing the volume of big data, and fueling the rapid development of business intelligence and data analytics. At the same time cloud computing enables the achievement of coherence and economies of scale through sharing of resources. This course is designed with two parts which offers students with a comprehensive understanding from the technical view, while emphasizing the socio and economic impacts, of IoT and cloud computing. Part One overviews the current components of typical IoT devices, IoT design considerations, design trade-offs of hardware and software, and technological constraints and limitations; Part Two introduces the fundamental understanding of cloud computing, cloud segments, and cloud deployment models. Cloud services, cloud security, and economic impacts of cloud computing adoption will be provided. This course also discusses a variety of business application scenarios of IoT and cloud computing via case studies."
